I’m writing this from Tokyo: a city that has lived on my travel mood board for years.

I landed a couple of days ago because one of my friends is running the Tokyo Marathon (today!) β€” go Jen πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ β€” and it felt like the perfect excuse to finally tick this dream destination off the list.

She’s going to kill me for adding this in here πŸ˜‚πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

First impressions of Tokyo? Total sensory overload.

Loud music drifting out of storefronts. Flashing signage stacked on top of more signage. Giant screens, bright lights, orderly chaos. It’s energising and slightly overstimulating all at once.

But this city is also just so considered! From the hotel amenities (why are they so good?) to the way the city accommodates tourists so seamlessly. It’s clever in ways I can’t quite articulate yet β€” but I will. More on that soon.

The food so far has been delicious… and occasionally surprising. Let’s just say I’m up for trying everything most things, at least once.

Tomorrow we head to Kyoto, then Osaka, before finishing with two more nights back in Tokyo.

It’s only been two days, but I already know this trip is going to leave a mark.

More soon… for now, I’m off to cheer at the marathon.

See you next week!
